Ursula Mamlok might be the best-known female proponent of dodecaphony. Her influential works (more than 75 of them) cover an impressive span, from solo instrumental works, to songs, to orchestral pieces. But she is perhaps best known for her many chamber pieces. Among her most commonly performed works is Panta Rhei ("Time in Flux".) This piano trio is performed with great assurance on this CRI release celebrating Mamlok as an "American Master." The performers—Benjamin Hudson, Chris Finkel, and Aleck Karis—are completely locked in with one another and the piece flows with seeming effortlessness from them.
My friend, Roxane Prevost, has an interesting article about meter and the fourth movement, here. There's also a complete score of that movement at the end of the article, so...I have this month done something I only very rarely do on the CCM: I've supplied the entire movement for the clip.
